Consumer Units

Consumer Units

Your fuse box must meet the legal requirements from the time it was fitted. This means that if you have an old wire based fuse box then there’s no legal requirement to replace it with a modern electrical consumer unit. However, it’s often a good idea to replace it, both for your convenience and to meet modern safety standards.

Replacing the consumer unit is likely to become necessary should you decide to rent out your property as Landlords are responsible for ensuring the property meets with current safety standards.

If you are having other home electrical work carried out then you may be legally required to replace your fuse box, as the whole system must be brought up to current standards.  We always ensure that this is brought to your attention at the earliest possible stage.
